History
Founded in 1953, Tieman Industries is a family owned business that began in the backyard of the founder’s home, building tanks and vats for the dairy industry
The first road tanker, which was built in 1955 from stainless steel, was used for milk collection.
In 1958, after deciding to manufacture stainless steel equipment for the food industry, the Company experienced a rapid rate of growth that culminated in the establishment of the Keon Park site in 1961.
In 1972, Tieman Industries diversified into material handling equipment through the acquisition of Howell Engineering.
1973 heralded in a new generation of tanker design and manufacture with the introduction of the Tieman ‘ringed’ tanker. This design offered greater capacity, reduced manufacturing time and the tanker was easier to service and repair.
Between 1973 and 1975, Tieman made a major decision to specialise in tankers, material handling equipment and tail lifts. This decision led to the company progressively becoming a leading specialist in the chosen product areas.
In 1980, the Company expanded into New South Wales, followed by South Australia in 1984 and Western Australia in 1986.
1982 saw the introduction of the Mobile Service division. This division not only services Tieman equipment but material handling equipment manufactured by other companies. Tieman have mobile vans operating in all states in Australia, and are also represented in New Zealand.
Until 1988, Tieman only built either stainless or mild steel tankers. During 1988, Tieman expanded the tanker range to include aluminium for fuel and chemicals and mild steel for bitumen.
The growth strategy continued into the 1990’s with the establishment of the Queensland operation, and expansion into Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
In 1994, the Campbellfield site was purchased. Both the tailgate and material handling operations moved from Keon Park to the new site at Campbellfield.
Globally, Tieman Industries has formed alliances with overseas companies with design strengths and technology advantages.
Tieman also have distributors in Western Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand.
Today Tieman is a market leader in the sales, design, manufacture, distribution and service of both material handling equipment and liquid road tankers.
